It's not a new idea, but we don't often think of it.

Western Maine is regularly overlooked especially in regards to the Creative Economy, but Western Maine happens to be a magnet for creative individuals. The geography often works against the ability of artists to promote and market their creative work. Geography also makes it very difficult to organize and unify. Now we have the Internet and sites like www.westernmaineculture.org and MaineCreates.com that can open up the possibility for a dialogue, opportunities, connections and ways we can help each other grow stronger.




Idea Premises
If you look at arts and cultural groups around Maine, you'll see merging taking place to provide greater strength and visibility. For example, the Maine Highlands Guild merged with Maine Crafts Association and as a merged entity is much stronger.
